Eco friendly home decorating is just a part of an environmentally friendly lifestyle that many folks are turning to in an effort to create a healthier home that is more in tune with natural products. While there are different levels of eco friendly living, some choices are quite simple and with just a little thought and effort, can be used by many of us.

I have always been an advocate of using what you have to decorate, and searching for great pieces and accents that you can recycle for your home. Why spend the money and use the resources when there might be the perfect piece just waiting for you in an antique store, consignment shop or flea market?

If purchasing new furniture, search for organic fabrics that are grown without pesticides and processed without chemicals. Look for pieces that are made of reclaimed wood and filled with organic upholstery fill.

Need to paint? Look for companies that sell non-volatile organic compounds (VOC) or low-VOCs. They are better for the environment. One option is Benjamin Moore, always my top choice in quality paint products. Look for their Natura paint. It is virtually odorless, zero VOC emissions and best yet is available in any color selection.

Eco friendly living and lifestyle choices are becoming a way of life for many. If you have been making the switch to organic foods, why not go a step or two further and use eco-friendly cookware? Just as eating food that is grown and processed without chemicals and pesticides so is choosing safe cooking dishes.

Want to entertain naturally? Choose organic cotton napkins and table cloths as well as napkin rings, soy candles and other natural dining options that keep chemicals away from food.

Why not decorate your entire home naturally with picture frames, candle holders and other green home decor items made from natural materials such as wood, stone, slate and recycled glass.

Add hand-woven silk pillows to your sofa or cozy up in an organic throw blanket made from 100% organic cotton. Decorate your table with an all-natural herb garden, natural gourd or beautiful natural diffuser and enjoy the feeling you get from decorating your home in a way that doesn’t compromise our planet or your well-being.

I have found EdenHome.com to be a great source of eco friendly products for your home and family, including children’s clothing. If you have decided to make a conscious switch to organic and eco friendly living, even if you select one piece of clothing or one item for the home at a time, EdenHome.com provides choices that will fit your lifestyle!
