If you want to be ‘in the know’ when it comes to color trends in home decorating and design, read on to find out what two experts in the field have to say.
First, from the folks at Benjamin Moore paint, comes COLOR PULSE 2011. They’ve created four themes, including The Farm, Order, Escape and Tribe.
The Farm encompasses earthy, natural colors and textures and simple fabrics with tie-dyes and tea stains.
Order returns to primary colors coupled with blacks, grays and whites, utilizing clean lines and geometric shapes.
Escape is designed for the softer, feminine colors. Expect to see rosy pinks with carbon, lavender with brown, and pale green with camel.
Tribe brings in the bold tones of fiery orange, red berry and cinnamon, and pairs them with bronze, charcoal and brown.
Our next color visionary is the Paint Quality Institute, which takes a philosophical approach to color trends in 2011.
Budget conscious consumers will look for simple and relatively inexpensive ways to update their home and create a sense of newness without spending a lot of money in the process. You can change the appearance, the perception of size and even the perception of temperature, through the simple use of paint color.

Coffee Time Thoughts
Now that the holiday season is over, it’s time to put away the seasonal decor and restore our homes to their pre-holiday state.
Instead of recreating the same look in your room or space, breath some new life into it with simple furniture re-arranging. Or, if you need to keep things on a simpler plane, place your accessories differently…switch out artwork and wall decor…go through your cabinets and find interesting pieces that have been on the shelf (literally) for awhile.
You might be surprised at how simple changes alter the look and feel of a room. Need more detail? Read about furniture placement and accessorizing here.
